Playgroup - ISO Wednesday
Playgroups socialize shelter dogs by giving them opportunities to interact with one another. They provide safe, supervised, off-leash play for any available or appropriate dog at CACC by trained volunteers. Playgroups provide physical, mental and social stimulation for dogs and enhance assessment, training and placement.
Volunteers must be official City of Chicago volunteers and an approved Safe Humane Playgroup Volunteer. They must follow protocols specific to Playgroups, covered in a Playgroup Training seminar. Playgroup leads must complete approved training outside CACC as well as Safe Humane playgroup seminars and shadowing (please contact program coordinator). Those who bring dogs to playgroup (“playgroup runners”) must be approved CACC dog handlers and must have gone through a Safe Humane Playgroup seminar. Shadowing is strongly encouraged.
*IMPORTANT NOTES:
- When working in pavilions exposed to or recovering from upper respiratory illnesses ("ISO"), please be sure to bring a change of clothes to minimize risk of spreading illness to your pups at home.
- In working dog pavilions C through G, you must have a 2nd person in the pavilion with you.
- Pavilion F may be entered only by designated Safe Humane volunteers /staff.
